The Extended Care Account Manager role is a field-based support position within Cardinal Health?s Extended Care organization that operates in close alignment with the commercial sales team. The Account Manager supports the advancement of the Medical segment product portfolio by executing against implementation plans, reinforcing solution-based selling strategies, and helping drive adoption across the U.S. Non-Acute marketplace. This position supports a diverse product portfolio, including medical devices such as nutritional delivery pumps and disposable supplies like incontinence products, serving the long-term care market. The role partners closely with the Field Sales Team, Strategic Accounts Team, and marketing groups to support growth initiatives, coordinate day-to-day account activities, and ensure a consistent, positive customer experience.
Responsibilities
Develop expertise in features, benefits and value of assigned product portfolio and present these to clinical and economic call points utilizing situational sales methodology
Build consultative relationships with clinicians, supply chain partners and end users. Maintain positive working relationships with Distribution. Maintain active presence at top accounts.
In-service accounts by demonstrating product applications, functionality, and ensuring customers are competent in product usage.
Maintain knowledge of the current industry/competitive landscape including healthcare economics, reimbursement, competitors and competitive products etc.
Attend and participate in sales meetings, training programs, conventions, and tradeshows as directed
Regular overnight travel required for attendance of regional and divisional events including customer meetings and presentations, customer education, training meetings, and national sales meetings
Complete all required administrative tasks including expense management, new business forms, etc.
Responsible for contract compliance related to capital equipment
Conduct patient/resident sizing in long term care/nursing homes related to absorbent hygiene (adult briefs/protective underwear). Provide product support, demonstrating comfort and professionalism in direct patient-facing situations, while maintaining patient/resident dignity.
Meet or exceed required field activity metrics set by sales leadership
Utilize digital technology platforms and data to analyze region and effectively target accounts
Effectively document field activity related to region pipeline via CRM platform
This role requires extensive travel, approximately 80% of the time with frequent overnight stays
Candidates must be able to travel anywhere within the United States on short notice, often with less than 24-hour notice
Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree preferred or equivalent experience
1-2 years of relevant experience, ideally in healthcare or sales
Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
Demonstrates strong prioritization, planning, and organizational skills, consistently completing tasks on time.
Ability to thrive in a highly dynamic, fast-paced, field-driven role
Comfortable working in clinical environments with direct patient interaction
Self-starter who is passionate about healthcare
Strong presentation skills
Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationship
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize
