Cardinal Health is looking for an experienced Automation Engineer with a strong focus on Operational Excellence. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing automation systems and processes that increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency. The role will also involve analyzing existing processes and identifying areas for improvement, as well as working with cross-functional teams to develop and implementing solutions. The role will require some design work and some validation work as well.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and implement automation systems and processes to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Identify and analyze existing processes and systems to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvements.
Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource requirements.
Participate in the design and development of new systems and processes, including the development of system requirements, specifications, and testing plans.
Provide Technical expertise to support the development and implementation of automated industrial systems and processes.
Develop and maintain documentation related to automation systems and processes, including user manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Identify and implement measure to ensure the reliability and accuracy of automation systems and processes.
Work with manufacturing excellence team to identify, plan, and execute hands on continuous improvement projects within internal MFG facilities.
Provide technical support and guidance to Manufacturing Plant for engineering issues.
Responsible for aligning with site leadership and other key stakeholders to develop and implement performance improvement recommendations.
Execute improvement through the change management process.
Qualifications
Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field preferred
2+ years of experience working in medical device manufacturing preferred (Co-Ops and Internships will be considered)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify areas for improvement and develop solutions
Experience designing and implementing automation systems and processes
Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD electrical preferred
Experience with PLC, SCADA, and HMI design preferred
Experience with robotic standards and implementation preferred
Experience with project management methodologies and tools preferred
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Experience with change management and influencing, negotiating, and communicating across multiple organizational levels
Experience with Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen processes preferred
Experience working with FDA Quality Systems Regulations and ISO Quality Systems preferred
Travel expectations: Up to 50%
