What Sr. Engineer, Applied Security contributes to Cardinal Health
The Sr. Engineer, Applied Security, applies knowledge of Information Security, Software Engineering, Automation, and Information Technology to build and lead the technical capabilities of a new team responsible for proactively developing capabilities to dynamically and continuously identify, analyze, and remediate security and technical compliance gaps across Cardinal Health. This Sr. Engineer demonstrates in depth knowledge of Network, Cloud/Infrastructure, Applications, and other essential components of the Cardinal Health IT landscape. This person will also leverage AGILE project management skills to drive the rapid identification and remediation of technical security gaps to improve the Information Security posture of Cardinal Health. Additionally, this person will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and visioning skills to build a strong, healthy, and cohesive partnerships that aim to be leading across the Information Security industry.

Applies advanced knowledge and understanding of security concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to manage a wide variety of Applied Security projects
Participates in the development of policies and procedures to achieve Applied Security goals
Recommends new practices, processes, metrics, or models for the continuous verification and validation of security controls
Works on / leads complex projects of large scope that may have significant and long-term impact
Provides solutions which may set precedent
Independently determines method for completion of new projects
Acts as a mentor to less experienced colleagues
Accountabilities in this role
Identify gaps and lead technical/security consultations to support continuous validation and remediation of controls, patterns, and configurations across the Cardinal Health IT environment
Oversee the technical/security efforts for Applied Security team projects and engagements
Innovate/Develop/Implement strategies, tools, and dashboards to advance Applied Security efforts
Contribute to security policies and standards to improve overall security posture and adherence
Align deliverables and engagements with expectations of leaders across Cardinal Health IT, communicate findings, and collaboratively remediate issues with a focus on automation
Team player and mentor that acts as the escalation point for technical/security issues from less experienced team members
Grow and foster relationships with Security Engineering peers, colleagues and partners across the Information Security Industry and represent Cardinal Health as a world class Information Security organization
Qualifications
5+ year's experience in Information Technology & Security, 2+ years leading highly technical projects preferred
Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience
Technical expert across multiple disciplines: Infrastructure, Software Engineering, Network etc
Ability to develop in both Windows & Linux environments
Skilled in programming languages; Python & Shell Script
SIEM content creation experience
