The Rx Generics Senior Category Manager is responsible for the profitability and maintenance of the overall M&D generics product and program offerings. This role collaborates heavily with the Rx Purchasing Team to make sourcing decisions. This person is responsible for developing strategic supplier relationships and works to reduce drug cost while managing supply shortages. The position will work directly with our generic manufacturer partners and is responsible for managing those relationships. This person will be a leader for the Generics Category Management at M&D providing insights and skill development opportunities. The position also works with the M&D Sales Team to identify sourcing opportunities to lower cost. Additionally, the position will manage day-to-day tactical needs, backorder management and pricing analysis for the generics program.
This position will include significant project management and analytics supporting the key Generics initiatives, requiring collaboration with others in Rx Category Management, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations teams.
Responsibilities
Responsibility for the sales growth and profitability of the M&D Rx generics portfolio, including execution of the buyside plan
Relationship owner for assigned vendors and or molecules
Ownership of supply shortage solutions to minimize out of stock scenarios
Develop and maintain pipeline of new generics products. Partner closely with vendors on new product launches.
Develop, communicate, and execute strategies to drive cost reduction, operational efficiencies, and gain market share. Drive growth through portfolio optimization with a focus on source generics.
Provides mentoring and development opportunities for fellow Category Managers and Purchasing team
Lead cross-functional initiatives, including members from Sales, Marketing, Purchasing and Finance
Act as escalation point for business partnering issues and challenges. Act as mediator to provide resolutions in a timely manner.
Critical Skills

Previous experience in planning, cost reduction and contract negotiations.
Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel – Pivots, VLOOKUPs and PowerPoint).

Must be able to make fact-based recommendations for the organization as it relates to new opportunities and alternative strategies.
4-year degree in Business, Finance, Marketing or related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 Years relevant experience (Pharmaceutical or other healthcare industry experience preferred. Rx product knowledge preferred)
Strategic sourcing and category management experience
Demonstrated analytical ability and financial acumen
Excellent communication skills to include influencing, presentation, and relationship management
